The Current Situation
Regina’s indoor aquatic facilities have been at capacity for years. There is not enough pool time in the city to support the needs of the multiple aquatic groups and to meet the demand for swim lessons. Additionally:
-
the facilities do not meet most modern user expectations;
-
another 50m pool is needed at the Lawson Aquatic Centre to meet national competition requirements and to attract national and international events;
-
there is no easy access for para swimming and disabled persons at the Lawson and this population is growing in the aquatic community;
-
the Lawson has a remaining useful life of just six years.
The Opportunity
City Council agrees we need a new pool. They’ve prioritized a new indoor pool as the #1 recreation infrastructure need in Regina and have applied for federal funding.
We need your support to make this happen.
We need you to show the various levels of government how important this is.
And we need to share in the funding of the pool.
